Junior Football in Wilmslow

Wilmslow Town is one of a number of football clubs that offers Junior football in the Wilmslow and Alderley Edge area. Other junior football clubs include Wilmslow Sports Juniors, Alderley Edge Nomads and Alderley Athletic. Wilmslow Albion football club runs a senior team and limited junior football teams. Most clubs offer junior football coaching for boys and for girls as part of team development. Wilmslow Town FC is closely linked with Wilmslow Football Academy in this respect, providing kids football coaching from 4-years-old upwards.

Most junior football clubs based in Wilmslow and Alderley Edge play in the Timperley and District Junior Football league. Others play in the Stockport Metro Junior Football League.

Junior football is typically played as 7-a-side "mini soccer" up to and including the U10s. Different junior football leagues then adopt different approaches to U11s (some play 9-a-side and some move straight to 11-a-side) before the format moves to 11-a-side in all leagues from U12 onwards.
