28 January 2012 Match report for Wilmslow Town U10 Jaguars 6 - 4 home win against Altrincham FC Juniors U10 Pumas (28/01/2012)
In the only Division 1 fixture of the day, the U10 Jaguars cruised to a win against Altrincham Juniors Pumas. A starting lineup of Harrison, Joel, Jack, Callum, Will, Connor and Matt, soon had the Pumas on the ropes with strikes from Matt and Connor.
Freddie, Dante, Joe, and Solomon came on at the interval. Will struck the ball inside his own half and lifted it over the Altrincham goalkeeper's head to stake his claim for goal of the season. Spectacular! Solomon followed up, hitting the target with two fantastic goals and the Pumas, against the run of play, replied with two themselves. Five-two at the break.
In the final period , the Pumas struck early to give them hope of a turnaround but Dante finished neatly to seal the game. A late Altrincham goal allowed the Pumas to walk away with their heads held high, but in truth the result was never in much doubt.
The only concern for the managers was the four goals conceded. All credit to the Pumas who fought back when they could have folded and left with a wave and a smile. A battling team with a lot of heart. The Jags were in their comfort zone and could easily have scored a couple more but must improve defensively if they are to compete against the teams higher up the table.
Captain for the day, Matt played very well during his two periods. Birthday boy Harrison had a very confident performance between the posts. Freddie reacted bravely to a couple of Altrincham attacks. As usual, Jack and Joel looked a class act together at the back. Playing in his first Jags league game, Callum showed glimpses of his great skills and settled nicely into the team. Dante and Joe both played well out on the wings. When Solomon steps up a gear his finishing is phenomenal. Bronze award for Sol in this game. Connor followed up his recent run of form with another polished performance for Silver Award. His tackling and passing have improved as a result of hard work and a great attitude in training. Outstanding today. Nice to see him on the scoresheet again.
Man of the match had to be Will. He had a great fifteen minutes on the right wing followed by a solid job at right back. His goal is one to remember. Our very own 'Billy Wiz' is one of the fastest players in the Timperley League, a very popular member of the team with a brilliant attitude and he thoroughly deserves his Gold Award.
