Jaguars Hold on to draw against the mighty Sale United Lions - Best ever result for battling U10 Jaguars.

Match report for Wilmslow Town U10 Jaguars 2 - 2 home draw with Sale United JFC U10 Lions (19/11/2011)

Against a formidable Sale United Lions, the U10 Jaguars, led by Captain Dante, held out for a deserved draw against the best form side in Division 1.  In the first fifteen minutes, the Jags outplayed Sale in every position. Harrison Joel, Jack, Dante, Matt, Will and Solomon passed and tackled as they have never done before. Dante put the home team ahead before the break with a great finish after  a period of constant pressure on the Sale defence.

In the second period Freddie, Connor and Joe stepped up to continue the same pattern and Solomon scored a memorable one on one goal, against a very talented Sale goalkeeper. A cool finish from a cool player! Joe and Connor both made a massive contribution to the game playing some of their best football.

In the final period Sale hit back with an early goal and levelled the match with ten minutes to go. In the past,  the Jaguars have thrown away good positions towards the end of matches, but today the managers stuck to the game plan and a tired set of players fought hard to hang on for a terrific draw. The Sale management team acknowledged the result as a fair reflection of the game as a whole.

The biggest moment of the game was a spectacular save by Freddie stopping a certain goal from the Sale number eight. Freddie gets his GBK Man of The Match Award  for what is the best save that the managers have witnesed since the team started playing eighteen months ago. Congratulations Freddie. Great performance.

Silver Award goes to Matt Williams who was unlucky not to score. Playing on the left wing, Matt showed his best tackling ever. More of the same please Matt. Bronze Award goes to our other goalkeeper, Harrison, who stepped in to make a confident and assured contribution.

All the players deserve awards following this match. Joel and Jack were rock solid at the back. Dante covered every inch of space on the pitch. He led by example and is a worthy team Captain. Will, Connor and Joe all made big contributions to the game on the wings.Solomon did very well to score against a top class Sale defence.

One point I wish to make is that the Jaguars are admired for the quality of their football by all the teams they play. The Jags rarely concede a free kick and all the players are very sporting before, during and after the game. Sale were terrifc opponents who gave credit where it is due. We deserve to play in Division 1 on merit. Coaches, parents and players should be proud of the team and what we represent. We can have a successful season if we continue to work hard in training and develop as players and as a team.   Thanks also to the parents who support the boys in all weather conditions through thick and thin. Also thanks to our 'professional linesmen' Ian, Pete and Michael who step up with a smile to run the line failrly. It's a great set up and one Nick, Paul and I love to be part of.

Todays result will have sent shockwaves through the streets of Alderley, Altrincham, Didsbury, Broadheath, Urmston and Wythenshawe. Look out, the Jaguars are coming!

Next week Fletcher Moss away.
