29 October 2011 Match report for Wilmslow Town U10 Jaguars 8 - 4 home win against NJ Wythenshawe U10 (29/10/2011)
After the disappointment of last week's one nil defeat against Stretford Vics, the U10 Jags smashed 8 past a NJ Wythenshawe team which threatened a shock turn around. Without last week's outstanding Man of the Match Joe and speed machine Will, the Jags were down to eight players for this friendly fixture.
The game started with Freddie in goals, Harrison and Joel at the back, Jack in midfield and a forward line of Matt, Dante and Solomon. The first period was all Jaguars with Solomon scoring a hat trick and Matt finding the net. 4 nil at the interval.
The second period was a completely different story as the Jags lost their shape and NJ came back into the game scoring two goals, to show what a good side they are. Connor entered the fray and fought hard to contain Wythenshawe but other Jags players were too keen on getting on to the scoresheet leaving gaps all over the pitch.
The third period saw another goal from NJ to make it 4-3 and a shock was on the cards. Matt stepped in to give the Jags some breathing space.Jack hit the crossbar with a long range effort and Solomon put another chance just over the top.
The end of the game saw Solomon score another two goals and deflect another off Dante who deserved to get his name on the scoresheet for all the hard work the captain had put in on the right wing. NJ scored a final goal to finish the game 8-4 to the Jaguars.
The game served it's purpose but the lesson learned was that the team must be disciplined in all situations if winning positions are not to be thrown away.
Solomon was an outstanding man of the match with terrific finishing for all five of his goals. The managers favourite not a spectacular strike but a cool one on one finish against the NJ keeper. Lots more goals to come from Sol this season! Matt deserved the Silver award, scoring two and thrived on the left wing with more involvement than previous matches. Dante collected a well earned Bronze award for a battling right wing performance.
Next week, buckle up your seatbelts. It's time for the roller coaster ride that is the U10 Division 1 Wilmslow Town derby match between the Cougars and the Jaguars. Get ready for the fireworks!
