Match report for Wilmslow Town U15s 5 - 2 home win against Barr Hill Lads Club U15 (09/10/2011)

WILMSLOW TOWN UNDER 15s VS BARR HILL
MATCH REPORT 9TH OCTOBER 2011

The Town team played a solid match with few errors or omissions.  Despite the referee's penchant for blowing his whistle, the lads sustained their concentration and turned in an excellent victory, of 5-2 over their opponents.

The play was dominated by Wilmslow from the start of the first half, with several attempts by the Barr Hill team thwarted before they became serious challenges.  Bundy was strong in the center,  and Brandon was able to deliver a shot very early in the game.  Within a few minutes the tone was set by Ollie M, who  scored off a header by Sam, and then again from 6 yards out to make it 2-0.

Jordi defended well and effortlessly deflected a Barr Hill challenge.  This was followed by a swift cross at the other end of the pitch but, sadly, there was no Town player in place to finish the play.  At one point in the first half there was a flurry of passes back and forth.  Alex to Ollie F, Sam to Ollie M, and so it went.  Henry made some fantastic saves  and Jim and the Ollies delivered impeccable attempts that went unrealised.

A few corners didn't materialise in 'pointage', but the players set the tone of cohesion and support.   Sam's header at 20 minutes deflected a shot on Town's net.  He then took an excellent free kick, a big throw in and another kick that went out of bounds.  Alex took a cracking shot that narrowly missed the goal.

Owain performed well, as usual.  We hope that the injury he sustained towards the end of the match wasn't debilitating.  Dean provided excellent support and delivered some amazing passes, one of which nearly resulted in a goal by Bundy.

Early in the second half, G scored the perfect goal after a bit of a flutter at the goal mouth.

The boys played intelligently and there was helpful banter and verbal support on the field.  A couple of penalties later (Tom and Sam) took the score to 5 - nil. Bennett defended well.

This success was followed by a couple of goals from the oppostion, and a number of whistles that caused the second half to dribble into the 60 minute zone.

All in all it was a well deserved win.
