Heat takes toll on U11 Panthers - Setback for U11 Panthers

Match report for Wilmslow Town U11 Panthers 4 - 0 away defeat to NJ Wythenshawe U11 (01/10/2011)

Following last weeks fantastic performance , our loyal travelling fans were excited to be taking on the league leaders NJ Wythenshawe and all conversation in cars and on trains and coaches going to the game was about the quality of our football and potential silverware this season.

The club shop reflected this new confidence with a significant uptick in sales of Callum Firth replica shirts and Ben Elliott pencil cases this week.

Pre match preparation seemed good and despite the record October weather the team looked well prepared at kick off.The game then started and for some reason we never got onto the pace of the game.

We tried to play football with the ball on the floor but looked vunerable to the ball over the top for the third game running.Considering we were playing the unbeaten league leaders and were not playing well we should have been pleased to reach half time only one goal down.

Unfortunately we continued this apathy in the second half , I think it was just one of those days - a bad day at the office.Final score was 4-0.

We need to start communicating more in matches (something we seem to have no trouble doing before and after the game...) and taking the game to the opposition. We must control the midfield and get the wingers running into space out wide then delivering crosses.

Tom kept us in the game and deserved his man of the match award.James West had a good second half in defence and Isaac held the ball up well but needs more support when close to the goal.

The management expect a swift reaction to this display from all players next week.We have shown how we can play and are good enough to beat this side.

For fans it was a long journey home.......
