25 September 2011 Match report for Wilmslow Town U11 Panthers 6 - 2 home win against Wythenshawe Town U11 (24/09/2011)
After a dissappointing result but encouraging performance against Wythenshawe Town 2 weeks ago ,the U11 Panthers had a swift opportunity for revenge with the corresponding home game yesterday.
The team talk and pre match preparation was all about learning from our mistakes in the last game and not conceding an early sloppy goal.This obviously worked as again we were one down within the first 2 minutes!
The difference this time though was the reaction from the Panthers who started to control the midfield through Ted and Ben and attacked well with Finn and Will using their pace to get great crosses over.
Our pressure soon led to our first goal , a great header from Finn who soon added two more with lethal finishing.
Lincoln came on to give Will a well earnt break and carried on the great work on the flanks scoring with his first touch and following this with a geat second strike which gave the keeper no chance.
The defence looked much more secure this week with Tom distributing the ball well and Teniel giving a fantastic captains performance.The bronze award went to Sam H for his great attitude defending and James made an encouraging debut.Sam D held the line and brought the ball out of defence well.
We could have and probably should have had 10 , hitting the post three times having a goal disallowed harshly.Max came on to carry on his brothers great work and was unlucky not to score in his first game.Callum also went close on a number of occasions working hard when he was upfront on his own.Issac gave a lesson in tough old fashioned centre forward play.Ben scored the last of our goals taking his chance calmly to make it 6-2.
The young management team could take many positives from this game but the most pleasing was the style of our football , passing and moving well and the team spirit was excellent.
We need to maintain this standard next week , boss the midfield and take our chances when they arise.
