Match report for Wilmslow Town U11 Jaguars 3 - 6 home defeat to North Trafford Athletic U11 (18/09/2011)

The first game of the new season was finally upon us, the boys and their supporters couldn’t wait for the action to start. With the bigger pitch and nets plus the complicated offside rules there were plenty of changes to get used to. Had the boys shaken off those lazy hazy days of summer? Well it appeared not as Trafford were off at a pace causing new keeper Will into some great saves and prove his tooth troubles were well behind him. It was all Trafford though as the Jaguars couldn’t get the ball in the other half – at least no offside rules to worry about! Trafford were soon three up despite Will’s efforts and the crowd’s excitement turned to panic. The Jaguars then started putting some passes together with Ben, Zaki and Stef getting a grip in defence then Harry and Oliver combining for a close chance. It was Trafford though that got a fourth then the boy’s earned their very first offside from a long through ball from new boy Ben to Harry. The ref blew to end a miserable first half and sent the boys off for a hair drying off manager Mark.

First Half:  Wilmslow Town Jaguars 0 – North Trafford 4

Whatever Mark put in their half time tipple worked wonders from the restart. The Jaguars pulled a goal back after good work from Tadiwa and Harry forced an own goal then Ben forced a god save with and up and over shot. The Jaguars continued to pick up the pace and pulled another goal back when Harry slipped a shot through the keeper. Tadiwa and Oliver worked well in midfield then Jamie out on the left put a stunning cross over to Harry in a great position but it fell just short – so close to another goal! Will then kept the boys in the game with a brilliant instinctive save then twinkle toes Jamie danced around a few players on the left to put the pressure back on the opposing team. The Trafford number seven had been the major difference between the two sides and he popped up to score another couple of goals to finally put the game beyond doubt. Harry scored a really well taken goal, walking the ball around the keeper, but it was too late to make a real difference. AT least the boys won the second half!

Final Score: Wilmslow Town Jaguars 3 – North Trafford 6
