Broadheath provide benchmark for pre-season Panthers - Honours even in friendly encounter

4 September 2011

Match report for Wilmslow Town U12 Panthers 3 - 3 home draw with Broadheath Central U12 Demons (04/09/2011)

A good workout for the Panthers against Broadheath, winners of last season's Saturday Division and cup final opponents. Wilmslow had most of the squad available whereas Broadheath were without substitutes, a factor that started to tell in the later stages of the game.

The Panthers trailed 1-0 at half time and fell further behind shortly afterwards. Then Matias (mid-range shot high past the keeper) and Dan (a free-kick well placed in the top-right corner) brought Wilmslow level. Nathan completed the comeback with a trademark run at the keeper and low finish.

Broadheath rallied and levelled the score with five minutes remaining.

This was a far better performance than the Panthers managed in last week's game against their own U13s. Good to see that some lessons have been learned, although there is still lots of room for improvement!
