U13 Panthers made their first outing of the summer at the Stockport Junior Blues 6-aside tournament at Wilmslow High School on Saturday 23rd July 2011. After the disappointment of not being able to field a team at the Keele Cup this year, 8 Panthers grasped the opportunity to blow the dust off their boots and get back on the pitch. TC led a squad consisting of TB, Adam, Charlie, Braden, Neil, Max and Jamie in organising positions in rotation and aiming to qualify for the quarter finals stage in a group that provided strong opposition from SJB, Bramhall North, JFC Greasby, Bollington North, Moston Valley, Torpedo Grove and Wilmslow Sports. The boys learned a lot from organising themselves, especially how difficult it is to score in 6 minutes, with only Adam and Jamie netting. In the end the boys drew too many games and with a few defensive lapses didn't fulfill the potential shown early in the tournament, where they dominated games but just couldn't find the back of the net. The overall result was they finished mid table and didn't qualify for the later stages.

Nevertheless the boys enjoyed some good pass and move football against strong opposition in beautifully sunny conditions in a very well organised tournament

Thanks to Andy Collicott for his help running the team and for everyone who helped set things up, tear things down and cart around all the stuff as well those who came to support the boys. Much appreciated as always!
