In a galaxy far far away - can the Jaguars continue their winning streak...

6 April 2011

Match report for Wilmslow Town U10 Jaguars 2 - 2 away draw with AFC Partington U10 (02/04/2011)

AFC Partington v Wilmslow Town Jaguars under 10’s – 2nd April 2011

On a pitch far far far away in Partington, the boys were given an unusual ‘welcome’ by the other team. After being left alone, the Jaguars could get on with their warm up and try to extend their unbeaten run.
Zacki was off the mark straight away with sound defending then he put Robbie through for a good chance. Not long after, Robbie put a lovely ball through the middle for Harry who unleashed a scorcher to bag the first goal. Partington came straight back and Oliver had to make a couple of good saves, Steph, Robbie and Harry combined well to keep the pressure on but the period ended without any further goals.
First Period: AFC Partington 0 - Wilmslow Town Jaguars 1

The Jaguars started strongly with Harry and his trademark looping shot but his time it was over the bar. Tadiwa and Zacki were getting stuck in at the back than JackC made a tremendous solo run through the home team’s defence. On and on he went creating havoc before forcing a corner. Shortly after, Partington struck with a superb volley from a corner – it was unstoppable. The game stepped up a notch and there was excitement at both ends of the pitch – and in the middle! Steph was masterly in defence, getting himself in the right place at the right time. JackK had a good run on goal that tool a fine save to stop a certain goal but then, at the other end, Partington got a second and the Jaguars found themselves behind for the first time. Not for long though! Harry put a long long laser guided pass through to Robbie who passed the ball over the line to get back on level terms. The Jaguars supporters could not take much more of the pressure and manager Mark was looking like his head might blow off.
Second Period: AFC Partington 2 - Wilmslow Town Jaguars 2

Will came into his own from the off, working well in midfield tackling and passing very well. Robbie, Steph and Harry all created opportunities, the best of which saw James shoot just wide. JackK made another good run but this time his goal bound shot was blocked for a corner. Partington just managed to clear off the line from the corner and then created some chances themselves but neither team could find a winner and the game finished level, probably a fair result on balance. The boys could make the long long journey back home knowing they had done a very good job.
Final Score: AFC Partington 2 - Wilmslow Town Jaguars 2

Man of the Match – Steph for a super defensive performance.
