26 March 2011 Match report for Wilmslow Town U10 Jaguars 5 - 1 home win against Ashton on Mersey JFC U10 (26/03/2011)
Wilmslow Town Jaguars under 10’s v Ashton on Mersey – 26th March 2011
Could the boys make it three victories in a row? After finding a car park space anything was possible! But alas, the boys were off to a sluggish start with Ashton having the better of the play but it took an unlucky own goal for them to get a goal up. Jack4 showed great team spirit by comforting the scorer. Will was solid, Zaki and Arun were playing their socks off to stop any further goals and whilst Robbie opened up some opportunities in attack the first period ended with no side being able to score a goal for themselves.
First Period: Wilmslow Town Jaguars – Ashton 1
Manager Mark must have blown some fire in the boy’s bellies during the break. They came out firing with Tadiwa and Harry coming close, then after ping pong in Ashton’s penalty area, Steph did a chip ‘n in shot to put the Jaguars level. Robbie then made a great run through but his shot whizzed just past, the boys passing were cutting the Ashton defence like a hot knife through butter. Harry then let loose a blaster – both ball and his boot were goal bound but it was the ball that beat a wide legged goalie for a well deserved lead to the Jaguars. Robbie then had a good shot blocked but it was Harry who scored again with a sublime chip over the goalie and in to the top corner of the net. Tadiwa put Robbie through for a chance just before the break but it was wide. The period ended with the boys well on top.
Second Period: Wilmslow Town Jaguars 3 – Ashton 1
The boys started where they had left off with good control of the game. JackK put an inspired through pass to Robbie who finished well to make it four. Arun then came close with a clever shot, he was then back in a flash defending in his own box. Oliver, who had been more of a spectator so far, had to make a save but the Jaguars were dominating play and creating the chances. Jack8 did a delightful lob that the goalie managed to hold and terrier James was keeping the pressure on Ashton’s defence. Just before the referee blew for full time, Jack8 rounded two players and was one on one with the goalie. He then unselfishly passed the ball through to Jamie who passed the ball into an open goal.
