The Cougars traveled to Boothstown for the return fixture against the league leaders in good heart. Although beaten in the previous weeks home game they were hopeful of getting something from the return match as for large parts of the home match they had been the better team and had contributed to the defeat with a typical slow start and lapses of concentration. They were on a full size pitch this week and this was in the Cougars favour as they seemed to have the legs of the strong but slow Boothstown back line in the previous encounter.

1st Half
The Cougars were determined to start on the front foot , and in the opening moments Callum had a run down the left and a shot on goal. Boothstown hit straight back and Patrick made a fine save.
Callum then had to leave the field injured Jake came on at full back and Will K pushed into midfield. Will immediately went on a run leaving the Boothstown defence in his wake and finished well from the edge of the area with a shot that found the far corner of the net.
More changes were needed when Connor had to leave the field with a twisted knee and Will reverted to full back and Jake to right wing. Jake also realized that the Boothstown defense were suspect when run at and took on and beat his full back and clipped the ball over the advancing keeper to double the Cougars lead.
Boothstown were definitely shaken and poured forward in search of a goal. It got better for the Cougars though when Will K dispossessed a Boothstown forward and played a great ball through the defense for Emmanuel to run onto. Keeping his cool as usual Emmanuel finished well to make the score line an incredible 3-0 to the Cougars.
Boothstown immediately hit back and reduced the defecit after a move down the right. The Cougars though were playing their best football of the season Emmanuel again ran beyond the defense and crossed for Connor to make the score 4-1

2nd Half
The Cougars knew they were going to be up against it in the second half , but they remained on the front foot taking the game to Boothstown who by this time looked totally stunned and almost resigned to surrendering their unbeaten record.
The Cougars could have put the game beyond doubt Joe, Reece, Callum and Emmanuel all coming close to extending the lead. As the half progressed though Boothstown exerted more pressure but the back line of Luis Jayden Jonathan and Will K supported by Will N were superb throwing themselves into challenges and keeping a steady line. Behind them Patrick was also in fine form making saves look easy and distributing the ball well.
The Boothstown pressure eventually told and they scored a second from a free kick and then a third after a break down the right to make the score line 4-3 with ten agonizing minutes left.
The Cougars still pushed forward though in search of more goals and Joe and Callum again came close. The cougars defense was now exposed and were holding on desperately, Boothstown hit the bar and Patrick made more great saves to preserve the slender lead as the clock ticked slowly down.
The midfield seemed to tire and were unable to get back and support the defense. Emmanuel however dragged himself back and headed another threatening cross clear. Jayden Jonathan and Luis were retreating further and further back but remaining cool under pressure managed to see the game out for a famous victory for the Cougars.
Final Score 4-3

Summary
Best performance of the season by far from the boys who although tired and losing shape towards the end clung on for a famous victory over a very good side.

Managers Thoughts
Another great performance from the team who are improving with every game, we are keeping our shape much better than we have done in the past and despite not having the numbers to allow players a much needed breather during the game, everyone keeps going till the end. Well done again!

Man of the Match
Could have gone to several players this week but awarded to Emmanuel who kept battling away until the end and got back to assist in defense
