U9 Jaguars beat Cheadle and Gatley Lions 9- 6 in a fifteen goal thriller - Jaguars maul Lions in U9 friendly

19 February 2011

Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 9 - 6 home win against Cheadle & Gatley FC U9 (19/02/2011)

The U9 Jaguars had to come from behind to secure a hard fought victory at Lacey Green.

Nick Saremi made his debut for the Jaguars playing in three different positions. He scored a fine goal and should be proud of his performance.

Goalkeeper Freddie was kept busy by a strong Cheadle and Gatley attack. Jack, Harrison and Joel played well in defence assisted for a short period by Nick. All the defenders had a number of great runs up the pitch and Harrison made a sensational goal line clearance later in the game. Connor was terrific as the playmaker in the central midfield role assisted by Jack, Harrison, Nick and Max.

Matt, Will, Dante, Joe and Max played out on the wings and were a constant threat.
Nick, Ollie, Will and Dante took on the striker’s role executing some great shots and scoring some fantastic goals. Matt had a thunderous shot hit the crossbar from well outside the penalty area, which would have been goal of the game had it gone in. Will’s running caught the eye as he terrorised the Lions’ defence and scored yet another top goal. Ollie worked very hard and was unlucky not to score.

Across the four periods the Jaguars deserved their win. Dante showed off his classy dribbling skills and tough tackles. He scored twice for a super man of the match award. Jack played well for both teams, in addition to a spell in the Jaguar goal, to win a silver award. With his crunching tackles and surging runs he stood out today. Max scored four tremendous goals to ensure his status as top scorer at Wilmslow Town across all the age groups with 27 goals in 13 matches. Rooney can but dream of those statistics. Max gets a bronze award for this week’s efforts.

Thanks to our four guest stars who made cameo appearances for Cheadle and Gatley Lions including Joel, Joe, Jack and Ollie. All gave their best for the Lions who very nearly grabbed a win.

It was a game for experiments and the coaches had the opportunity to try a number of players in different positions. As usual there were moments in the game when the passing and movement showed just how good a team the Jaguars are.
Our Chairman, Erik Garner, was most impressed by the performance.
