Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 6 - 2 home win against Old Stretfordians JFC U9 Lions (05/02/2011)

On a day when the elements conspired to call the game off, the U9 Jaguars conjured up some magic to play Old Stretfordians off the park. Man of the Match, Joe White, scored two goals in a performance he should be very proud of. His tackling, passing and shooting were all top notch. In truth, the whole team played as a unit. Two goals flew in from magnificent Max, playing with his usual skill and determination. Hard tackling has added another dimension to his game. One goal each for Matt and Dante, finished off an accomplished Old Stretfordians team. Freddie, in goals, came close to a clean sheet and pulled off a couple of great saves. Joel, Jack and Harrison, the Three Amigos at the back, deserve a huge amount of credit for the disciplined way they dealt with opposing attackers.  They are improving all the time.  ‘Scholesy’ Connor and ‘Fletcher’ Cameron have adapted well to their new defensive midfield roles. They are vital to the team and should be applauded for their efforts particularly today.

Will, our own ‘Billy Wizz’, thoroughly deserved his Silver Award with a superb right wing display in the second and third periods of the game. His running and movement were outstanding and his passing and tackling exemplary. His is quietly turning into one of our star players. Ollie played his way into a bronze award with some strong tackles and great passes up front. With the Jaguars hit and run tactics Ollie is learning to hold the ball up so his fellow forwards can get up in support. Well done Ollie keep up the good work.

There were a couple of moments in this game when the passing and movement was on a different level. The link up between Matt, Dante and Max, which resulted in a couple of goals and a couple of good saves from the Old Strets keeper, was fantastic to watch and at times impossible to defend against.  If the boys work hard in training and improve technically there is the basis for a terrific side who will be very hard to beat. It’s up to you Jaguars!
