Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 9 - 1 away defeat to Sale United JFC U9 (A) (15/01/2011)

On a wet and windy Saturday morning, Sale United blew a brave Jaguars team away with a great passing performance. The Jags can make excuses about the wind and the rain but sometimes you have to admit that the other team was just a better side.

On a positive note, the Jaguars showed how they never give up or blame each other for their misfortunes. Every player always tries their best no matter what the circumstances, or what the score is. In the roller coaster season that this has been so far we've had more up and downs than any other Wilmslow Town team. From going unbeaten in Division B  to the 8 - nil Fletcher Moss defeat, from the 22- nil club record win to today's 9-1 defeat by Sale - the team has shown great character.

Today's man of the match typifies the spirit of the team. Connor, one of our midfield generals, is always a pleasure to coach. He demonstrates great skill and composure on the ball. His tackling is always rock solid. His passes find their man and he has been on the score sheet more than once this season.

The Silver Award today goes to Will. The fastest nine year old in a pair of football boots, if Will was a comic character he could only be Billy Wizz . Over the season he has scored some great goals from out on the right wing.  More recently his tackling has improved and his confidence has soared. Today he never stopped running. The Bronze award goes to Harrison . Today 'H' battled bravely against a terrific Sale attack. He tackled as the last man on a number of occasions and never gave up on balls that were destined for the net.

Freddie once again stopped the score going into double figures with some great saves. Joel and Jack got stuck in with crunching tackles. Max, Joe and Dante Luca played to the final whistle with some brilliant runs and passes. They were all unlucky not to score. Our other man in the middle, Cameron, stuck to the task with the usual dedication and skill we have come to expect. Olly hounded the Sale defenders and once again Matt popped up for the only Jags goal. We all celebrated that goal like we'd won and boy did we deserve it.

Thanks to all the boys for their efforts. Also thanks to the mums, dads and grandparents (and Joe's Uncle Pete) who turned up to watch. Our supporters are much appreciated.
