Cougars were the defending cup winners from last season and were very unlucky not to get a result out of this game.
 
They were two men down but what a performance they put in, with players playing in unfamiliar positions. The first third saw Cougars take the lead through a well taken penalty from Will Watts, unbelievably the Villa went up the other end and scored a sloppy defended goal straight from the kick off.
 
The second goal came from the villa pressing hard, after a number of good corners which were hard to defend it came off a Wilmslow head for an own goal. Cougars played some good football but could not find an equalizer.
 
Cougars started the last third like a train and equalized early on. GAME ON both sides played with a real desire to win and although Villa had more possession Cougars passed the ball well and looked more likely to score.  Like most tight games the next goal game from a defensive error to the Villa there was a dispute whether the ball crossed the line or not. Cougars did not give up and got on top of Villa at this point only to see Villa get another after Cougars rushed a throw in and were caught out. Cougars pushed hard again and scored a third with the best move of the match which Harry tapped home.
 
This was a thoroughly enjoyable game and is what football is all about, well done Ben, Callum, Charlie, Joe, Freddy, Olivia, Harry and Will.
 
MOTM Callum Leigh did not put a foot wrong throughout the game, even Villa's manager commented on his excellent performance.
