14 November 2010 Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Panthers 0 - 4 away win against AFC Urmston Meadowside U9 Vikings (13/11/2010)
After sweeping aside all the opposition in Division 4 of the U9s league The Panthers traveled to Urmston to take on the Urmston Meadowside Vikings in a friendly. The Vikings were a Division 2 side so a tough test was expected.
The Panthers were just missing Sam this week.
The team started off with Gabriel, in Goal a back two of Davy and Martin A midfield three with Aidan wide right, Ollie wide left and Marcus in the middle, with Dillan alone up front.
Ist Period
The Panthers who were not informed of the Vikings league status beforehand started brightly and passed the ball around with confidence. Dillan had the first shot on target which was well saved by the Vikings keeper. Ollie then charging forward down the left had an attempt on goal with the keeper turning his effort around for a corner.
Dillan then played Davy in on goal, his shot went just wide though.
The Panthers had control of the midfield and Martin joining in the attack hit a post with the keeper beaten.
Dillan then opened the scoring running through on goal and finishing well. This was no more then the Panthers deserved for their dominance, Gabriel had little to do in the first period
Dillan then put Aidan through but his attempt on goal also went narrowly wide
Ist period score 1-0
2nd Period
The second period saw a number of positional changes Martin &Ollie now formed the back line Ben and Jack joined the action in midfield alongside Davy with Dillan again alone in attack.
The Vikings started brightly but the back line with the assistance of Ben and Ollie shut them down well. And Gabriel came off his line well to cover any balls played beyond the defense.
The Panthers thenwon a corner on the right which was well delivered by Ben , his ball found Martin at the near post , he controlled well and made the score 2-0 with a firm finish.
Ben in command of the midfield drove forward and had an attempt on goal which just went wide.
Dillan saw another attempt well saved and Davy went close to repeating his effort from last week when the goal keeper put the ball down to take a goal kick.
3rd Period
The final third saw Aidan and Marcus return to the action, Dillan through on goal again just missed the target . He kept on plugging away though and was rewarded for his efforts when he was on hand to convert a Davy corner to make the score 3-0.
With the result now beyond doubt the Panthers began to play some delightful passing football , Ben rampaging forward from midfield went close with another effort before finding Dillan with a delightful ball , Dillan kept his composure and finished well completing his hat trick in the process

Another strong showing from the Panthers brushing aside a team who play two divisions higher.

Dillan – Not downhearted when he misses a goal scoring chance and rewarded for a strong forward display with a hat trick
Silver – Aidan captain for the day and set a great example to his team mates with strong tackling and crisp passing.
Bronze award – Martin – Solid and disciplined at the back and a goal threat when getting forward
