11 September 2010 Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Panthers 15 - 0 home win against Alderley United U9 C (11/09/2010)
Ist Period
After a spirited performance the previous Saturday against Urmston, the Panthers lined up against Alderley Utd in good heart. Just missing Aidan from last weeks team the Panthers started with Gabriel in Goal , Ben, Martin and Jack in defence and Sam, Dillan and Davy who was captain for the day in attack.
Ben immediately set the tone of the match by dispossessing an Alderley player and cleverly playing in Dillon for an attempt on the Alderley goal. The Panthers quickly established the upper hand and passed the ball around and through the packed Alderley defence to create many goal scoring opportunities. Dillan opened the scoring after good work by Davy, he then increased the Panthers lead with another cool finish.
With little to trouble the defence Martin ventured forward and finished off a move involving several Panther players. Jack then played in Davy for the Panthers fourth goal and Martin completed the first period scoring from one of a number of cleverly worked short corners.
Its really impressive to see the lads taking the initiative and taking quick/short corners off their own backs!
Ist period score 5-0
2nd Period
In total control the Panthers were able to make a number of positional changes for the 2nd period. Marcus and Oliver came on at the back replacing Dillon and Sam and Martin moved into attack. Again the Panthers dominance was total, with Gabriel in goal becoming a virtual spectator. Marcus at right back linked well with Ben and Martin on the right. Jack, Oliver and Davy also moved the ball around smoothly on the left.
Many more goal scoring opportunities came and went with the goalkeeper and the posts coming to Alderley’s rescue. Martin then found his range and with powerful shooting added four more goals to his tally so completing a double hat-trick. Davy and Ben also found the target. The corner count moved to 16-0 and the second period ended with it just being a question of how many more goals the Panthers could score!
2nd Period score 11-0
3rd Period
The scoreline enabled the manager to make more positional changes Martin took over in goal giving Gabriel a chance to show what he could do on the pitch. He and Marcus moved to the front along with Oliver, and all of them continued to cause problems for the overworked Alderley defence.
Goals continued to flow , Marcus scored one and was unlucky on several other occasions Ben added another and Oliver also got in on the goalscoring., Yet another Davy corner found the net via an Alderley defender.
Both Dillan and Gabriel were at the receiving end of some tough Alderley tackling, To their credit Alderley continued to play until the end and but for some resolute defending and some inspired goalkeeping from their three makeshift goalkeepers the score would have surely been far greater.
Final score 15-0

Summary
Another fantastic performance from the Panthers, With all the boys showing their versatility in different positions. Special mention must go to Sam and Jack, both were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet themselves but both continued to play for the benefit of the team throughout, showing good vision and always looking to play in team mates who were better positioned than themselves.
In coming weeks with the leagues now being re-organised the Panthers are likely to face some much sterner tests , playing the way they do though by moving the ball quickly and running into space they are sure to be a good match for the stronger teams in the league.
Man of the Match
Davy - Led by example , could have scored many more , and was involved in almost all of the panthers best moves. showed great composure on the ball, knocking the ball about with ease.
Silver Award - Martin - solid at the back, powerful in attack and untroubled in goal.
Bronze award - Marcus - Fullfilled his objective for the game, playing more for the team, looking for the pass, when it could have been easy to go forward in search of individual glory. Rewarded with a goal and deserving of more.
