1 May 2010 Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 2 - 2 away draw with Ashton on Mersey JFC U9 (01/05/2010)
It was a warm bright May day with dramatic cumulonimbus clouds casually drifting across the sky. Not that the boys noticed, they were focussed on finishing off the season in division three with a flourish. The Jaguars certainly had the better start with good possession, Robbie had a good header just over from a corner. Sam was on good form in defence and Harris produced some fine passing and really got stuck in. Oliver was forced into action making two good saves and Harry B was putting myself about and should good skills. The end of the first period came with no goals but a very strong team performance from the Jaguars.
First Period:
The Jaguars started off well with James yet again showing great running and passing skills this time putting the ball through to Harry W who shot just wide. It was Ashton though who got broke the deadlock with a very good strike. Harry W tried to hit straight back putting over a great corner for Robbie who struck the ball just over. Sam was again a giant and Harris struck up a very strong defensive partnership with him. Josh then went round two or three defenders and put Robbie through who stuck a lovely shot that sailed over the Ashton (keeper like one of the clouds) into the back of the net, the Jaguars were level. Not for long though, an Ashton striker dribbled around the box with the ball tied to his foot then blasted it past Oliver to put them back in front. Harry W hit straight back after a tremendous build up and a frantic second period came to an end. Definitely a chance for the crowd to get their breath back.
Second Period: Ashton on Mersey 2 - Wilmslow Town Jaguars 2
Again, the Jaguars were quick off the mark with Robbie being frustrated by the Ashton keeper. A good free kick bounced around the area but the ball would not get to the net. Josh made some good moves on the right then crossed the ball in for Robbie who headed it on to Harry who drove a strong shot just wide. Robbie and Harry W both had other attempts. Josh was all over the pitch and both Robbie and Harry W came close again to getting the winning goal but neither side could get the break through.
Final Score: Ashton on Mersey 2 - Wilmslow Town Jaguars 2
Man of the match: Harris - a well deserved visit to GBK after a strong performance in defence and great effort.
