Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 3 - 3 home draw with Wilmslow Sports JFC U9 (24/04/2010)

The sun was out and the degrees were up on a glorious Saturday morning at the Jaguars home ground at Lacey Green. Could the boys keep up the pace after their three all goal thrilling draw last week? Could the parents find a parking space whilst the school car park tarmac dried off? The first period started off badly for the Jaguars as the Colts went a goal up after some poor play from the home side. Despite plenty of effort the first period went by without further goals or significant chances - perhaps the later kick off time meant the Jaguars were thinking too much about what's for lunch!

First Period: Jaguars 0 - Wilmslow Sports Colts 1

The second period perked up when Robbie's looping shot hit the bar then Harry W came so close to 'toeing' the ball into the net - another an inch longer leg and it would have been a goal. The Jaguars carried on increasing the pressure with Harry W again coming close with a long shot from the Colts keepers kick out then the ever improving James put a stunning pass through to the ever present Harry W who banged it in to get the Jaguars on level terms. James carried on the good work and showed that putting in the effort pays off for the team. It was Sam though that turned the pressure into advantage with a thundering shot from well out that the Colts keeper could only watch go past him into the net. The Jaguars Samson was truly 'Samson and delighted'.

Second Period: Jaguars 2 - Wilmslow Sports 1

The Colts came out strongly and were soon back level with a well taken goal then went ahead 3 - 2 after a good one on one finish. Robbie then caused a stir when a great shot looked to go over the line and got the crowd were sure it was the equaliser but the referee saw it differently and waved play on. Josh made his presence felt then Harry W gave a looping pass to Robbie who silkily put the ball passed the Colts keeper to draw back level. Despite lots of effort neither team could get the winner in the final minutes and the game ended with a fair draw.
