Rampant U11Jags too strong for Bramhall - in 6-0 win!

20 April 2010

Match report for Wilmslow Town U11 Jaguars 6 - 0 home win against Bramhall North 75 U11 (10/04/2010)

Apollo, the Greek god of the sun beat the mere mortals of the Jaguars and Bramhall North 75 to the early morning pitch inspection at Jim Evison fields. The lush green grass cried out for fine football and the players obliged.

Finlay took the green shirt whilst Charlie, Ted, Tom and Neil formed the defence. Jamie, Brendan and TJ lined up in midfield and Kieran, Shorty and Connor graced the front line.

Apollo glared, and beads of sweat formed on the foreheads of all; the Jaguars completed their warm up, took their positions and faced their opposition with determined faces. Referee, Ged Duffy, blew his whistle and Bramhall immediately pushed “Route 1” into the Jaguars’ half. Tom and Ted held strong and slid balls left and right through Charlie and Neil to the wings….take a bow boys!

Another Bramhall attack stopped dead in its tracks and Charlie threaded a neat ball to Shorty who fended off a series of tough challenges to slot the ball for a 1-0 lead…nice one Cyril! (.....?)

Bramhall responded from the kick off, but Brendan stunted their continual thrusts with sublime ease, TJ bedazzled with tricky feet and Jamie persistently lofted exquisite balls to the feet of Kieran, Shorty and Connor. A delightful through ball from Jamie was chased by Shorty, stolen from the goalie and squared for Connor who drove the ball into the net to make it 2-0. It was a hard fought half but Bramhall rarely threatened and the Finster kept a clean sheet.

The second half commenced as the first half finished with the Jaguars pushing deep into the Bramhall half and Bramhall defending well. Then Neil’s kick from defence found TJ, he caressed the ball to Brendan who knocked it to Jamie, Jamie’s left foot eased the ball to Kieran and Kieran buried the ball to make it 3-0…..please, no more, begged the home support.

No sooner than Bramhall had kicked off when the Jaguars attacked again, Neil crossed a corner ball, Ted ventured forward and was unlucky with a strike that just went wide, "ooooaah" cried the crowd.

Tom and TJ commanded the skies akin to Douglas Bader (one for you old folks...), and their determination to take on the high balls was commendable. Connor danced the winger's Samba and was untouchable. After 45 minutes he crossed a great ball to Kieran who slotted to make it 5-0. Bramhall were looking down but a late spirited attack saw some tough defending that was assisted by midfield. Nonetheless, in venturing forward, Bramhall left themselves exposed at the rear, Kieran broke free and ran some 20 yards before selflessly passing to Shorty who netted to make it 6-0.

At the end of the day, it was another fine performance from the Jaguars, a strong defence, a solid and skilful midfield and an awesome strike force earned the Jaguars another 3 points but Bramhall should be congratulated for their efforts.

Goalscorers: Shorty (3), Kieran(2), Connor(1).

GBK Man of the Match; Ted -another commanding performance in the centre of defence, held his position, stopped anything and anyone getting through and also chased back to make two very significant tackles. Continues to play the game with all his heart and his performances have improved as the season has progressed. Let's keep it going until the end of the season Captain.
