13 March 2010 Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 0 - 2 home defeat to Broadheath Central U9 (C) (13/03/2010)
It felt like déjà vu for the Jaguars as they met Broadheath Central on consecutive Saturdays but this time it was a cup game and the tension was turned right up. It was Josh who again started strongly with a good ball through to Harry W for a chance then Sam ran well up the wing to keep the pressure on. Oliver kicked the ball out to Robbie who's shot brought out a great save from the Broadheath keeper. Broadheath came back strongly but the Jaguars defence soaked up the pressure with Same and Harry B making some good tackles. Robbie was battling in their box then Steph made a well times
clearance. Towards the whistle Oliver made another good kick out to Robbie who had a fantastic long range shot well saved then Harry W had a great shot saved by the keeper. Josh kept up the pressure with a strong shot that yet again the Broadheath keeper managed to keep out. An exciting period came to an end without a goal but the Jaguars might have just edged it in terms of chances.
First Period: Jaguars 0 - Broadheath 0
Broadheath started the second period very strongly, Kieran was tackling well and Steph was strong around the pitch. Oliver had to make a couple of good saves to keep the score even and the pressure was all coming from Broadheath. Robbie made a chance out of nothing with a high lob that came close but no one could just get that first goal and the second period ended goalless - A first for the Jaguars so far this season.
Second Period: Jaguars 0 - Broadheath 0
Again it was Broadheath who created the early chances but Oliver kept one out and the defence were trying their best to break up their attacks. Steph came close and James was doing some good work then Harry W let loose a sizzling long shot that crashed against the bar, Robbie followed up but hit the post and keeper. Oliver made a good save then a Steph shot came close but the pressure was then back on the Jaguars and Joe had to make a good clearance. The breakthrough came a few minutes before the end of the match but it was Broadheath who managed to squeeze the ball in from an impossible
angle - the net was checked but it was fine and the goal stood. Straight after, a wonderful long range strike made it two for Broadheath and although the Jaguars put pressure on their opponents goal they could not break through their defence.
Final Score: Jaguars 0 - Broadheath 2
On balance, Broadheath probably deserved the win. The Jaguars did not quite find the same form as last week when they were deserved winners so they will now have to get it back for the away leg next week if they are to overturn the two goal deficit. Oliver was made man of the match for producing some great saves at important stages of the game .
