1 March 2010 Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Panthers 5 - 2 home win against Sale United JFC U9 (A) (27/02/2010)
A bright spring morning for the first home game for some time. The opening lineup saw Tom in goal with Sam H, Scott, Teniel, Joel,Sam D and Lincoln ahead of him.
The opening minutes saw all the pressure from Wilmslow and an early chance with a long throw in to Joel who hit a great shot over the keepers head to make it 1-0 to Wilmslow.
This however spurred Sale into action, soon forcing Tom into a great save tipping the ball over the cross bar. We were playing well with good passing moves between, Joel, Sam D and Lincoln. Sale were proving to be tough opposition and Teniel and Sam H had to put in the hard work in defence.
However, Sale were soon back in contention a free kick to Sale saw a fierce shot deflected into the goal. 1-1.
The second period saw a change in the lineup with Sam H and Scott being replaced by Will and Ben.
The game was still there for the taking and not long into the period a cross from Sam D was met by Joel with a fierce shot, 2-1 Wilmslow.
Ben was certainly taking his opportunity with some great runs down the wing causing sale problems and soon the Sale keeper was called upon to make a great save.
Shortly afterwards Sale were back in the game again with a goal to take it to 2-2, but just when sale thought they were back into it we were straight back into the lead, a break from Sam D led to a scramble, the ball ending up with Ben who scored 3-2.
The third period started with Sam H and Scott back on for Sam D and Lincoln, and Sam H was soon back into action with a long shot that the keeper fumbled but pushed wide of the posts.
Teniel was soon to put in one of his thundering tackles, this gave him space to run and then pass to Scott who after one of his jinking runs found the goal to make it 4-2.
Teniel soon capped off his Man of the match performance with a fantastic long range shot from a Sale clearance which found the back of the net.
That wrapped things up at 5-2. A score which probably flattered us a little as Sale were a good side who played great football.
