U9 Jaguars show Brazilian flair - and put the crowd in samba mood

Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 4 - 7 away win against AFC Urmston Meadowside U9 Boca Juniors (27/02/2010)

After the heavy loss last week the Jaguars were definitely up for this match and wanted to prove themselves winners in division three. They got off to the best start when after only four minutes Steph put them ahead after a series of throw ins. Urmston bounced straight back with an equaliser with a well taken shot but their scorer then put one into his own net to put the Jaguars ahead 2-1. Robbie had a stunning long range shot just miss then Josh showed real commitment with great defending. It was Urmston who struck again after a great cross and an easy tap in to bring the score back level at 2-2. Harry W showed a brilliant first touch before shooting but saw his shot saved then Robbie, not to be outdone, made an unbelievable turn then sent the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-2 to the Jaguars. Oliver made a great save to keep the lead and Josh again showed effort courage and skill in tackling then send the ball up to Harry W who finished off a stunning move with a goal that sent the home crowd wild.



First Period: Jaguars 4 - Urmston 2




The boys from brazil were back after the whistle with some tantalising moves that should have the crown rumbaring. A Harry W and Robbie combo came close the Harry B made a run right up the wing with the ball looking stuck to his foot with superglue. He managed a cross to HW who again came close. Sam was making his presence felt in defence and Oliver made a couple of good saves to keep Urmston out. Robbie came back to help in defence showing strength and skill in tackling. Urmston however broke the defence with a scrambles goal to make it 4-3. What came next had the crowd enraptured - Kieran took the ball on the edge of the area, turned on a sixpence then curled an unbelievable shot around the keeper to make in 5-3. Goal of the season material! Urmston came straight back with a shot through a crowded penalty area to make it 5-4 and keep the tension almost touchable. Jo showed some good passing and James was battling away in midfield. Oliver made a good kick out to Harry W who made a clinical finish, banging the ball in to take the Jaguars up to 6-4.



Second Period: Jaguars 6 - Urmston 4



The last period saw both teams battling well on a heavy pitch. Harry B was strong in defence and Harris put himself about the pitch very well and got stuck in. Harry W found himself wide on the left and put a great cross over to James who calmly controlled the ball and struck it into the net to make it 7-4.



Final Score: Jaguars 7 - Urmston 4



It was an all round strong performance from the Jaguars. They were tougher in their tackling and put in effort to get around the pitch. Josh won man of the match due to his work load, tackling and getting his name on the score sheet.
