U9 Jaguars carry on the party - warming spectators

5 December 2009

Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 11 - 4 home win against AFC Urmston Meadowside U9 Athletico (05/12/2009)

It was  a cold damp morning with an icy chill blowing in from behind the trees. The pitch was heavy with mud and it was certainly going to be tough going for the Jaguars third game against Urmston. From the kick off, the much improving Harry B took the ball through and his shot was deflected out for a corner. A little later a short kick out from the Urmston keeper was intercepted by Harry W and he banged it back to get the Jaguars off to the best possible start. Just after, Steph crossed the ball to Harry W and he let rip and the ball smacked against the post. Then came a Jaguars move that would warm the coldest toes in the crowd, it must have been seven or eight passes in succession before Harry W finished it off with a goal to make it two. Robbie then came into the action with a long range looping sizzler that just missed but then Sam had a great effort half saved and Robbie followed up to put in the Jaguars third goal. Urmston then came to life and forced some scrappy defending and blocking from Oliver.

First Period: Jaguars 3 – Urmston 0

Urmston started  where they left off and its wasn’t long before they pulled a goal back. Kieran was again battling in defence and midfield and the Jaguars made it four with Harry W finding the top corner after a half save from the keeper. Urmston had their tales up however and Oliver was forced to make some good saves. Kieran was all over the pitch but this couldn’t stop Urmston pulling another one back after a one on one against Oliver. It was soon 4 -3 when an Oliver save rebounded straight to their attacker. The Jaguars yet again showed their fighting spirit and put Urmston back under pressure with Robbie getting the fifth jest before the whistle.

Second Period: Jaguars 5 – Urmston 3

The Jaguars have a reputation for finishing strongly and so it was again with  Robbie and Harry W bagging a brace  between them in quick succession to take the goal tally up to seven – Urmston did not know what had hit them. Kieran than made a wonder goal with a run followed by a chip in, he then got some great tackles in to top off a great performance. Steph, who had been solid all morning, kept breaking up an Urmston revival and then Harry W scored his fourth and The Jaguars ninth. Josh made people take notice with some great play on the left then Harry B won the ball with a hard tackle then banged it into the back of the net to make it ten. Sam then ran a marathon up the pitch going through most of the Urmston team but couldn’t finish with a goal, Jo made some good tackles but this could not stop an Urmston fourth goal. Just before the end of the game, Sam put Harry B through with a magical lay off and he went through to get his second of the game and make the final tally eleven. You could nearly hear the eleven pipers piping to celebrate the Jaguars unbeaten record this season to date.

Final Score: Jaguars 11 – Urmston 4

It wasn’t the best Jaguars performance( the conditions and a party the night before may didn’t help ) this season but you cant complain with a score line like this. Steph won the man of the match for his consistant hard work and effort all around the pitch.
