U14's tough it out - in Villa battle

29 November 2009

Match report for Wilmslow Town U14s 3 - 3 home draw with Timperley Villa JFC U14 (29/11/2009)

Wilmslow battled hard in ths match to earn a good result.

They started off slowly and Timperley Villa went 1-0 up after about ten minutes. But Wilmslow came back into the game, and, at the end of the half, a goalmouth scramble resulted in Jeremy Sumner forcing the ball over the line and the team went in at half time on level terms. Wilmslow started the second half strongly, and, when Patrick Storey had a shot saved by the keeper, Luke Taylor was there to put the ball into an empty net. Timperley came back into the game though and would have gone ahead had it not been for some fantastic saves by stand-in goalkeeper Jack Wightman. Unfortuantely, two of the rebounds off these saves fell to Timperley players and they did eventually go 3-2 up. But Wilmslow weren’t finished yet and, with five minutes left, Joe Swindells, after being found by a great pass from Joe Gardener, hit home to finish the match as a draw.

A good battling performance with notable performances from:
ROBBIE MECROW for being as solid as ever at the back
JOE SWINDELLS for great running and the eventual saving goal
LUKE TAYLOR for working his socks off

But MAN OF THE MATCH had to go to stand-in goalkeeper JACK WIGHTMAN for safe handling and some match-saving saves.
