Thats Entertainment - not the film, the U9 Jaguars

14 November 2009

Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 1 - 8 away win against Sale United JFC U9 (14/11/2009)

It was a cold wet day in Sale but those at the Jaguars match were soon warming to another fiery end to end match. Heavy pressure from the whistle by the Jaguars saw many attempts on goal with Steph and Kieran forcing saves and corners. Robbie and Harry W were also in the thick of it with some great shots, especially a great free kick from Robbie. Sale had their moments but Sam and Steph were tackling hard and broke up many attacks. The smell of cooking burgers wafting over added to the excitement and it was hard to believe that there had not been a goal. Robbie headed against the bar from a corner then Kieran broke up a dangerous Sale move before the Jaguars put in some sublime passing and movement and Robbie finished it off with a thunderbolt into the back of the net. Josh had been putting himself about and started off some good attacks. Soon after, Steph set up Robbie for his second goal and the Jaguars went into the first break two up.
First period: Jaguars 2 – Sale United JFC 0

Sale started the second period strongly and they opened their scoring with a looping shot over Oliver to get a goal back. Harry B came on for Josh and made a great battling start in midfield. The Jaguars team passing was excellent with Steph leading the way with great control and vision. Up front, Robbie put in a great solo run and scored his hatrick making it three one to the Jaguars. Harry B again made a great tackle then Kieran had a good effort on goal, Harry B hit the bar with a fierce drive that rebounded into the goalies arms. Sam then won the ball in defence, ran all the way up the park and forced  a great save from the Sale goalie just before the end of the second period.
Second period: Jaguar 3 – Sale United JFC 1

Mark gave the boys a team talk during the break and whatever he said worked as the final period was one of the Jaguars best yet. Robbie started it off forcing another great save then Steph struck a thunderous shot just wide, he then hit the cross bar from a fantastic free kick. Josh then took another free kick that Robbie helped in to make it four for the Jaguars. Sale battled on and broke with three attackers bearing down on Oliver who rushed out to clear the ball away. From the kick put the ball went back up to the Sale goal where Robbie did another of his cheeky back heels after Sam had shot to make it five. It was déjà vu straight after when Robbie back heeled again for his and the Jaguars sixth goal this time after a Harry W shot. Steph then took the ball in from the left and struck an unbelievable shot from a tight angle to score and make it seven. Harry W finally got his name on the score sheet during the period to finish off yet another resounding win for the Jaguars.
Final score: Jaguars 8 – Sale United JFC 1

The Jaguars played some really entertaining football with all the boys showing improvement week after week. Especially good this week was the passing and movement with some of the action being of a very good standard. Kieran showed again that he is really improving and getting stuck in around the pitch but for man of the match it had to be Robbie with his six goal thriller.
