U14s battle hard - to gain a good victory

18 October 2009

Match report for Wilmslow Town U14s 2 - 4 away win against AFC Urmston Meadowside U14 Kestrels (18/10/2009)

They started off being pressurised and Urmston went 1-0 up after 25 minutes. But Town immediately hit back and a free-kick  from Swindells was headed in by Stanyer. Then, when a lively Whatson was brought down in the box, Stanyer converted the penalty to make it 2-1 to Town when the referee blew for half time. It was an even second half with both teams creating chances. And, after a goalmoth scramble, Stanyer was brought down in the box and he converted the penalty himself to seal his hat-trick. Urmston pulled one back but Town kept driving forward.  And when Sumner put a great through ball through for Swindells, he slipped it past the keeper to seal the win.

There were a number of notable performances from players including:

ROBBIE MECROW for great defending
JOE SWINDELLS for great crossing and chance creating
PATRICK STOREY for great work rate and effort
EDWARD WHATSON for great running and preassurising
ANDREW KNIGHT for being a brick wall at right back
JOE PINDAR for solid defence and good distribution
LOGAN STANYER for great battling and a hat-trick

But man of the match has to go to Robbie Nicol for brilliant tackling and composure on and off the ball.
