U9 Jaguars maintain 100% record - roll on the next match

10 October 2009

Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 8 - 2 home win against AFC Urmston Meadowside U9 Athletico (10/10/2009)

From the kick off Robbie ran through the middle of the park and put a shot just off target. Urmston responded with a quick break, Stephan cleared and Oliver came out quickly to collect the ball. The Jaguars had most of the possession in these early stages but Urmston also had their chances. It was certainly a nervy time given the closeness when the teams last met on Urmston’s home turf only a few weeks before. The breakthrough came after seven minutes when Harry W picked up on a loose ball and banged the ball into the net, 1 – 0. Urmston responded straight away but the Jaguars defended as a team and soaked up the pressure well. Sam tried a long range shot from defence and came close, Jamie closed down the Urmston attackers denying them space. Just before the break Harry W forced a corner and then was denied a goal by an excellent save by the goalie from Robbie’s corner kick.

First period: Jaguars 1 – Urmston 0

The Jaguars started off the second period the stronger side. Josh rifled in a shot that sizzled past the ‘keepers right hand post. Both Harry W and Robbie peppered the Urmston goal with long range efforts. The second goal was sure to come and you could feel the tension lift when a Robbie sizzler went into the right hand corner and doubled the lead. Soon after Harry W thumped in the third and Robbie a fourth and then Jaguars had their best possession so far, the best action from Robbie who sold the defender a dummy, went round two others but pulled his shot wide. This appeared to spark Urmston into life but Harry B was up to the task and showed some powerful defending. Mark made some tactical changes, Harris came on and immediately got in some great tackles. The whole team’s work rate was awesome, it looked like they had two extra players on the pitch with all the running that was going on. Urmston’s goal was under constant threat but no one could find the finishing touch for a third goal. As the second period came to a close Oliver came out well to stop a rare Urmston threat.

Second period: Jaguars 4 – Urmston 0

The goal drought didn’t last long though! Straight from the kick off Robbie took the ball through the middle and blasted in the Jaguars fourth goal. Soon after Harry W took a shot that took a wicked deflection from a brave Urmston defender that went over the line to make it 5 – 0! Goal six came from Robbie soon after then Kieran made a stunning run and let go a fierce shot that the goalie could only parry, Harry pounced and finished it off, 7-0. Kieran again played some good moves but it was Josh who was unlucky not to score with a great forcing a great save. Jamie also ran his socks off then had a good shot saved and Joe came into his own with some good tackling and strong runs. Out of the blue Urmston made a quick break and made a long swerving shot that Oliver pushed on to the post only for the referee to rule that the ball had gone over the line. Whilst a bit fortunate, Urmston did deserve something for their efforts and it did give them a boost as soon after they scored a second from another good run and shot past Oliver into the left hand corner. Urmston again had another chance just before the whistle but they had left it far too late to try and make a comeback.

Final score: Jaguars 8 – Urmston 2

Overall, the Jaguars well deserved the score line, their third win and a 100% record so far this season. Stephan was awarded man of the match for his solid defending, creative midfield passing and even some shots! Once again though, it was the whole team who put in the effort and got their rewards so well done to everyone. Roll on the next match!
