4 October 2009 Match report for Wilmslow Town Veterans 4 - 0 away defeat to Prestfield (04/10/2009)
Prestfield replaced Wilmslow Town at the top of the division with a resounding victory at Old Standians ground in Whitefield. A severely depleted Wilmslow Town arrived with the optimism that a good performance could earn them a point as per their last visit here but with six first team regulars missing the odds were against them.
Wilmslow managed to keep Prestfield at bay for a quarter of the match before some poor closing down allowed Brown to curl a lovely shot past King from the edge of the box. Shortly after it was 2-0 to the hosts when again a ball from the left was crossed in and neatly tucked away by Brown.
More disappointment was to follow for Wilmslow with Hall limping off after an unfortunate clash with a Prestfield forward. Hall now joins the long list of Wilmslow long-term injured for the season.
On the half hour mark Wilmslow managed their first real threat on the Prestfield goal and for the remaining minutes of the half started to play better football.
Again for fifteen minutes of the second half Wilmslow competed well but then some poor marking from a Prestfield corner allowed Dawes to add to the tally. The game was rounded off by Brown completing his hat-trick from close range.
Indeed it could have been far worse for Wilmslow but for some excellent point blank and one on one saves from keeper King who has not been under so much pressure for many a game.
Wilmslow need to put this behind them and concentrate on getting three points against Plumley in 2 weeks. Hopefully the injury crisis will have improved by then too.
