Match report for Wilmslow Town U11 Jaguars 0 - 7 away win against Bramhall North 75 U11 (19/09/2009)

After the 7-2 friendly win last time out, the Jaguars travelled full of confidence and expectation for their first game of the season in the Stockport Metro JFL, away to Bramhall North 75 at Linney Road, Bramhall.

The Jaguars lined up with a 4-4-2 formation. Natty took the nets with Neil, Ted, Tom and Will forming the first line of defence. Midfield was graced by Jamie and TJ, alongside Hector and Connor who were both making their debuts for the team. The strike force was provided by the quick feet of Sam and Kieran.

After Bramhall's heavy defeat in their last match, it was impressed upon the boys how important it was to attack the match from the start, and seize the initiative by scoring first.

The sun smiled as the referee blew his whistle, and the boys did as they were asked and went on the immediate attack. It was not long before Jamie hit a well struck shot that was well saved by Bramhall’s keeper. Then Bramhall attacked in good style and forced a defensive back pass that resulted in a free kick that the Jaguars cleared with gusto.

A counter attack ensued and with Connor controlling the right wing, he drove a neat ball to TJ who moved the ball to Kieran and on to Sam who eased the ball just out of reach of the keeper to make it 1-0. What a start! -and cue an early celebration with the boys rolling in the grass cuttings -its not like this in the Premier League.....

The Jaguars continued to attack and Bramhall defended tenaciously, but eventually a splendid kick out of defence by Will saw a flick on by Kieran and Sam's shot was fumbled by the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

A brisk counter attack from the centre spot saw Bramhall attempt to pull a goal back but it was not long after that the referee blew his whistle for half time.

First half completed, job half done. Could the Jaguars now take control of the match and score an early goal in the second half to put Bramhall on the back foot?

The second half started with some fine footwork from a fearless TJ and a powerful Hector, both of whom held the ball well and played countless passes to the wings for Jamie and Connor to chase.

A ball passed to Kieran saw him produce a sublime, lofty kick towards the far post where it nestled into the net to make it 3-0.

Bramhall pressed to try and get back into the game but they were stopped by the stalwart figures of Will, Tom, Ted and Neil who defended with vigour and played some cutting balls out of defence. Hector, latched on to one of these, and finished with a tremendous shot to make it 4-0.

Bramhall might have been bowed but they were not beaten, and a fierce shot was well stopped by Natty and parried around the post. The corner ensued and the Jaguars broke away with a fine run from Jamie that was well defended by Bramhall.

But the Jaguars could now scent more goals, and a neat ball from Will saw Sam run the ball at pace and score to make it 5-0.

Bramhall pushed forward in an attempt to reduce the deficit but the Jaguars broke away again and Bramhall conceded a corner.  Jamie floated an elegant corner ball into the path of Kieran who finished in style to make it 6-0.

The Jaguars continued to push and Kieran fed an exquisite ball to Hector but his fierce shot was well saved. In the final minutes, Jamie played an excellent long ball to Sam who withstood a good defensive challenge before scoring his 4th goal to wrap up a 7-0 victory.

What a display!  Seven goals scored again, some tough defending, no goals conceded, and a great start to the season.

After the difficulties of the last two years, the boys are starting to play with confidence. We are learning that we must start these matches like we want to win them. Attack, chase, tackle and pass the ball like we mean it. Big wins, means big smiles, means enjoyable football.

Next week we are at home to Hale United Tigers, on our new pitch at Jim Evison Playing Fields on Altrincham Road. Let's do the same again.
