Click image above for larger picture Wilmslow started the 2nd game of the season brimming with confidence following the previous weeks win against Altrincham. Alderley were not going to make it easy, straight away they were on the attack which prompted some outstanding defending from the Cougars. A weighted clearance from Ben up the pitch created chances for both Neeki and Will who promptly won two corners in succession for Wilmslow. Alderley moved the ball quickly from defence into attack, beating the Cougars defence, leaving Martin to deal with a one on one with Alderley’s star striker. Martin made a tremendous tackle coming out to meet the striker which resulted in Alderley’s first corner. The ball was then kicked out by Martin into Alderley’s half creating chances for Will and Charlie; both strikes were on target but saved by Alderley’s keeper. At the end of the third the Cougars were getting control of the game and looking strong on the attack. Olivia controlled the left hand side of the pitch making some great defensive decisions and also making herself available going forward in every attack.

The Cougars had a temporary lapse in concentration resulting in a goal for Alderley leaving the Cougars 1-0 down and nervous but not giving up! Harry went on the attack, tearing Alderley’s defence to pieces, he had a shot on target which blasted against the keeper and Neeki picked up the rebound making it 1-1. Wilmslow were now firing on all cylinders and attacking at will, Harry was fouled in the box and a Penalty was rightly awarded to Wilmslow which Neeki scored making it 2-1. Alderley pushed hard to get back into the game but with Luke and Ben defending resolutely they had no chance. This left Olivia able to blast down the left hand side, providing vital support in midfield, creating space and drawing out the Alderley defence. The third finished with some fabulous play from Ben on the right sending the ball up to Freddie who made a fantastic cross into the box which was defended well by Alderley.

The last third commenced again with an attack from Alderley which was cleared by Freddie up to Will who crossed it to Neeki, creating a fantastic chance for Neeki to plant it into the back of the net, 3-1 to Wilmslow and the Cougars first Hat trick. Alderley won a corner from the re start but with Luke, Ben and Freddie solid in defence Alderley did not look like scoring. Charlie made an excellent run beating Alderley’s midfield passing to Will who very nearly dipped Alderley’s keeper. With Neeki now completely in control of the midfield it was a matter of how many they could score. Neeki and Will played some great one twos up front, with Will setting Neeki up to score another goal (4-1), closely followed by Neeki setting Will up to blast one past Alderley’s keeper (5-1). Ben wanted to be on the action so whizzed up the right to win a Wilmslow corner which was belted in, leaving Will to finish it off, 6-1. Olivia then made a flying run forward winning another corner for Wilmslow which Harry took crossing into the box, setting Will up to score his first and Wilmslow Cougars second hat trick.
