5 September 2009 Match report for Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars 11 - 0 home win against Unicorn Athletic JFC U9 (05/09/2009) The Jaguars started off really well and had most of the early possession with excellent passing and at least five good scoring chances. On ten minutes, Harry W ran all the way up the wing, crossed into the box and Robbie headed it into the goal – it was definitely the best goal of the season so far! Unicorn responded well and the Jaguars showed some good defending especially Sam. On thirteen minutes, Harry W took a long range shot which flew in past the keeper’ , 2 -0 to the Jaguars. Just after this Josh put one in after a great run and followed this up with another shot just off target. Robbie was feeling left out so tried a looping shot that floated over the keepers head into the top of the net – it was another fantastic goal for the star striker. Just before half time Harry W scored his second and the Jaguars fifth goal. First period – Jaguars 5, Unicorn 0
Mark gave a team talk and made some tactical substitution during the break. After the whistle there was good team defending then Robbie made a great turn in the box and put away Jaguars sixth goal. Oliver had his first action of the match, picking up the ball and kicking it out! Unicorn started putting on some pressure but again the Jaguars defending gave then no real chances. Jo, Stephan, Kieran, James and Harry B all had been giving them no time on the ball and chased the game really well. After absorbing this pressure, there was a goal mouth scramble with Jaguars having six or seven shots. Unicorn kept scrambling it away but it was Harry W who finally got the ball across the line. Robbie then tried another lob over the goal keeper who got his fingers to it but could not stop the ball going in. Harry W finished the second period with another goal making it 9-0. Unicorn made some attacks and Stephan made some great tackles to keep them from scoring. Kieran made a great run through midfield and his shot was shot whizzed right past the post. This was Unicorns best spell and even Robbie was back defending making a last minute block to stop a shot. Just before the end of the period Robbie scored another from a corner. Second period – Jaguars 9, Unicorn 0
At the start of the third period Oliver made a good clearance and Stephan again showed his strength in tackling and accurate passing. James was a terrier in midfield and defence, giving the Unicorn players no space. With Unicorn having a good spell Stephan again broke up their attack and when they did get through Oliver made a great save pushing the ball out for a corner. This period showed how all the defenders and midfielders gave 100% effort, closing down Unicorn and giving them no space to get some passes together. With time running out Robbie scored again with another looping shot then James came close with a sizzling shot. In the final minutes Stephan showed great last man defending to keep a Jaguars clean sheet.
The man of the match was a difficult choice as all the team played so well together. However Robbie was chosen, not just because of the goals he scored but because he also helped out in all areas of the pitch, even stopping a shot on target. Well done to Robbie and thanks to manager Mark for a great start to the season.
