A promising start for the newly formed U11 Cougars, as two six a-side teams were entered in the Spurley Hey JFC Tournament on Sunday 12th July.   Both teams performed admirably in a fiery, competitive tournament, both narrowly missing out on quarter final places, one on goal difference.  All the goals were cracking shots scored by Kafele(2), Atakan, TJ, Kieran and Joe. Each team voted for their 'team player of the tournament', won by Tom and Kieran, who put in supremo performances in defence and midfield respectively. The 'overall man of the tournament' awarded by the manager was won by TJ  for a consistently strong, passionate performance. There were also very strong goalkeeping displays from Jake, Will K and Kafele and solid, battling performances from Will N, Luis, Connor, Joe, Atakan, Brendan, Max and Jamie.  The 'Crunchie' moment went to Bren for his unwavering commitment and will to win, shown when the team were 2 down against a very strong team with a minute to go, urging his team on yelling "Come on, we can still win it!!!" The 'Last Rolo' moment went to Jake for standing up courageously against a charging striker and pulling off the bravest save of the day!  Well done to all the lads, Stuart and John are very proud of you as are your parents. Thanks to all the parents for their support and rear-guard action against a flying gazebo - 2nd best save of the day!
